About
I am a Mexican biologist specializing in bat ecology at the Ecology Institute UNAM and a National Geographic Explorer.
Besides my enthusiasm for research, I am passionate about communicating science and the beauty of nature through art. Having trained in both, I have specialized as a scientific illustrator to combine my two passions. I have worked for museums and botanical gardens illustrating species of flora and fauna for scientific articles, field guides, and educational material such as books and posters.
I have a special attraction and fondness for the tiny organisms and structures that we can find in nature. That is why I especially enjoy working at the microscope illustrating insects and wildflowers.
I am genuinely convinced that art is an excellent tool to explore, learn about and fall in love with the natural world. My main interest is generating new trans-disciplinary projects committed to conservation and achieving a wonderful integration and cooperation between scientific research, education, and art.
